About David

Marrying his passions for world travel and yoga, David regularly traverses the globe to lead teacher trainings, workshops, and yoga events. His Vinyasa and Yin teachings employ classic Hatha yoga as a philosophical framework to integrate contemporary movement science with accessible mindfulness practices. To date, David has led over thirty 200- and 300-hour YogaWorks Teacher Trainings, and numerous short-form YogaWise Yin trainings.

After graduating from Brown University, David pursued a classic Type-A career path in media — first as a New York journalist, and subsequently as a Script Analyst for Universal Pictures. Yoga proved a much-needed antidote to what had become a numbing corporate-Hollywood life, prompting David to take his first training at the original YogaWorks in Santa Monica, with his first mentors, Annie Carpenter and Lisa Walford. He eventually pursued foundational Krishnamacharya-lineage studies — with the Iyengar family in India (2007), and Ashtanga founder Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (2005) – and additional trainings with Ana Forrest, Jill Miller, Sarah Powers, and Shiva Rea. Mentors Paul & Suzee Grilley inspired David’s YogaWise Yin Yoga training, and his ongoing exploration of yoga’s evolutionary frontiers continues with anatomy trailblazers Gil Hedley, Robert Schleip, and Tom Myers.

A founding teacher for the video-streaming website MyYogaWorks.com, David offers numerous online yoga videos, some of which may be found on YogaVibes.com and the YogaWorks YouTube channel.   Despite David’s constant travels, his steady connection with loved ones, students, and constantly evolving practice always point the way back home.
